Workshop on Guidebook and Curriculum on Laos Economic Integration into Global and Regional Economy, Date 10-11 September 2018, Savanhnakhet Province

Workshop on Guidebook and Curriculum on Laos Economic Integration into Global and Regional Economy and Workshop on Dissemination for Lao Services Portal (LSP) took place on 10 September 2018, at Governor Office, Savanhnakhet Province. The workshop was chaired by Mr. Santisouk Phounesavath, Deputy Director General of the Department of Foreign Trade Policy, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, and actively attended by more than 145 invited guests. During the workshop, the participants were fully involved in sharing experience and raised various issues for discussion. This was a meaningful outreach for government and private sectors, and between central and local government.

The overall objectives of the workshop are to disseminate information on economic integration forum at global and regional levels of Lao PDR, especially under the World Trade Organization (WTO) framework, and Asean Economic Community (AEC), through the use of Guidebook and Curriculum on Laos Economic Integration at Global and Regional Economy. In addition, the workshop also demonstrates how to access LSP, which is aiming to facilitate both domestic and foreign businessmen and investors to access all laws, regulations and necessary information for investment and business operations in services sectors in Lao PDR.

Furthermore, another half day of workshop was held on 11 September 2018, at the meeting room of Savanhnakhet University, in Savanhnakhet Province. The workshop was co-chaired by Mr. Santisouk Phounesavath, Deputy Director General of the Department of Foreign Trade Policy, Ministry of Industry and Commerce and Dr. Bounheung Ninchalern, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and actively attended by more than 192 teachers and students. Through this workshop, participants were informed about the progress of the regional and international economic integration of Lao PDR, and also about how to access trade in services information through LSP, that can be useful information on research and studies. Overall, this one and half days workshop was successful as planned.
