Welcome to the new electronic information system of the Foreign Trade Policy Department in the Ministry of Industry and Commerce! On behalf of the Foreign Trade Policy Department, I have the great honor to thank the many people who have worked hard to help us establish the website of the Department of Foreign Trade Policy (DFTP). With the website, we aim to provide information related to the roles, duties and activities of the Department in a way that we hope will be valuable to businesses and the public at large, both domestic and foreign. We have included a Lao language and English language version of the webpage, to encourage communication with the broadest audience possible. We will update the website regularly to disseminate legislation and regulations affecting trade by both the Lao PDR and foreign countries, to provide data and information on priority foreign trade issues and trade agreements to which the Lao PDR is already a member, to report regularly on the status of current negotiations by the Lao PDR to join trade agreements and the trade priorities and privileges that the Lao PDR is working to achieve through bilateral, sub-regional, regional and multilateral frameworks and agreements, and to report on international trade cooperation projects under the responsibility of the Foreign Trade Policy Department. On behalf of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Lao PDR, I would like to sincerely take this opportunity to extend my thank to the Government of the United States of America for providing funding and technical assistance under the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Lao-U.S. International and ASEAN Integration Project (USAID/LUNA-Lao) to develop this website and to promote the objectives of the Foreign Trade Policy Department.
